You can take the NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line train from Penn Station to Trenton station where you can connect to SEPTA's R7 Line to 30th Street Station. From there, you should take Trolley 13 to Chester Ave & 43th St and then walk 5 minutes to the Univesity of the Sciences.

Check out the link for buses that run between the two cities. Buses leave NY from 88 East Broadway and arrive Philly at 121 N. 11th Street or 300 Market St.. Cost: $ 12 roundtrip. Takes about 2 hours. First bus leaves at 7 or 8 AM. Last one at 10:30 PM.

Another option is the Amtrak, even though it's more expensive than the bus.
