I'd like to know if anyone here is attending the NYU Steinhardt School of Education, especially it's graduate program in International Education.

I was accepted for the program mentioned above for the Spring term but after receiving my financial package I decided to upgrade my application for September. I know is a very prestigious School. I did get a scholarship but the one I got doesn't even cover half of tuition and what they offer me was over $24,000 in loans for this semester alone, which means that it will amount close to or over $ 50,000 in just one year. I'm still not quite sure if I want to be in this much debt.

If anyone can give some uselful advice I'd appreciated and I would appreciate equally those that don't have anything constructive to say to stay away. This is something that has me thinking a lot and at this point I don't know what to choose.

I forgot to point out that although this is a degree in the field of Education I would not be working as a teacher in a school. This program focuses mainly in working with public and private organizations that sponsor educational and cross cultural exchanges in different parts of the globe.

My mother graduated from that program and NYU is a great school (my grandfather still teaches there). I have been to the campus many times. However, it is a very expensive school to attend as well. If you want to go to top notch education program you wont find any better. It real matters what you want. If you are just interested in getting a degree in teaching I would suggest just going to your local state school.

Good Luck!!!

NYU is a very good school which is highly respected. But, as a teacher, how are you ever going to pay back those loans!?
$50,000 in just one year? And of course, NY is a very expensive place to live, so does that include your living costs during the entire year? This sounds like a pretty bad idea to me.

There are a lot of very respectable schools for educators around the USA. Especially, many state universities have great departments of education. So I think you should pass by this offer and be more practical. That will be a bit of a heartache, but when you are out of school and you dont have $100,000 in debt then you will realize you made the wise choice.
