With that many windows and them being big, I think you would be better off watching for a good sale or checking the "Domestications" website. Nice, drapery quality fabric gets really pricey..and with that much yardage...youch! If you know what type/color fabric you want check eBay! One time I was working on a project and got 18 yards of heavy duty, beautiful, tapestry upholstery fabric for under $30. and it was 54" wide! But give this idea a try...I've made alot of curtains/drapes and for my last project ~for 2 patio doors~I used jaquard textured FABRIC SHOWER curtains! They ended up beautiful, and I got them at Dollar General Store for 10 buck a piece. It took 4 of them, buy hey, that's still cheap!LOL Then I even bought an extra one and used it to make a table cloth and some accent pillows! So, I would just shop around and weigh my options if I was you:) Curtains are the easiest thing in the world to make. You can even use "iron~on" velcro if you don't sew~
Good Luck!!

Check you local Goodwill store (or other donation service outlet store, you can often find nearly new curtains and drapes in excellent condition and for a fraction of the price of new and usually less expensive than if you make the yourself. And unless you are skilled at making things from cloth, they will not look homemade.

thats the site for simplicity..curtains are actually pretty east to make. Some of the patterns are "for dummies" and I actually use some of them because I'm not the greatest seamstress. To keep things cheap, im assuming you have a Joanns Fabric store near you...so check out their weekly ads...they usually have simplicity patterns on sale for 1.99(they have a sale going on until the 15th, and another sale for them from the 25th to the 27th)...save you tons of money there! also they have pretty decent prices for their fabric...and have tons of fabric on sale and clearance (stuff that was in last year..but didn't make the cut this year..but its still all nice stuff) As a matter of fact they have a 50% off sale for home decor fabric lasting until feb 10th. Also if you sign up for the flyer to come to your home..you will always recieve a 40% off coupon for one item at regular price...and this can also be used on fabric.

buy some cheap flat sheets--you may want to buy white sheets also to use as a backing.
For my living room I bought some blue fabric at walmart and for the backing I had these 2 very large white linen tablecloths sitting in my linen closet doing nothing. They work excellent for the window & block tthe cold out in the winter & the heat out in the summer

Make a simple valance, under it you could hang a sheer of a coordinating color.
Look in your local fabric store, they have patterns and a wonderful selection of fabric to chose from.
Good Luck and happy shopping.

Sometimes it costs more to make your curtains than to buy them. I buy inexpensive curtains that look good, and then I can change them more often. I can get really cute and inexpensive ones for Blair catalog or Domestications catalog. They look good, and are super priced. I have had good luck with them also. Good Luck and happy decorating.

start looking in Walmart or any store that carries material and look for patterns for curtains, it will be easy to make them and you can alter from one room to the next and use the same pattern
