Sometimes you might find sweet potato, broccoli, onion, dried beans, red pepper might give you gas and these do find their way into your milk. Remember that the farmer knows to keep his cows out of the fields that have onions! LOL And we know that the cow doesn't drink milk to make milk. So be sure and watch your dairy intake, b/c dairy products inhibit iron absorption. You do need plenty of calcium so be sure and find foods that are high in calcium, vit. B's, A and C. Eat a whole banana and either applesauce or apples to give you much needed and often overlooked vitamins. Drink plenty of water and while keeping your calories high, be sure the calories aren't from empty foods like snacks, chips, sweets, etc. You'll be able to keep your energy up. My childrens pediatrician is about to be 109 years old. She told me (after I had let myself gain 50 lbs during preg.) that if I would choose good foods, no sugar, plenty of water, BUT keep my portions correct that my body would naturally go back to the weight that my frame is built for. It works! 2-4 oz. of protein, 3 times a day. For lunch and dinner add 2 Tablespoons of veg., 1 whole banana, 2 Tablespoons of applesauce, and 1 serv. of bread. :) Happy mothering!

I still have my same diet although anything gassy will go through to your baby. I know cabbage goes through the baby as well as chocolate. Drink plenty of water I also recommend multi vitamin tablets that are for breastfeeding mothers and just healthy foods.

You can go back to eating whatever you want to really....But be smart about it....if you never ate jalepeno peppers now is not the time to 'try' one. Anything that upsets your stomach can upset the babies stomach too. Some babies aare more sensitive to foods you eat than others, but generally speaking you can eat whatever you like.

Whole natural foods are healthiest for everyone. It does not matter if you are breastfeeding or not.
