Yes especially from a chippy. You can't beat 'real' chips, better than from a packet of frozen ones.

The old traditional ones yes!! But where I live most chip shops are now run by non-english people and the chips are just really greasy, and not cooked properly. When I was younger I remember a few chip shop that made the best chips. They were nice and soft in the inside but slightly crispy on the ouside. They were so nice!! Harry Ramsden fish restaurants make nice English chips. But most local chip shops nowadays are just plain nasty!! I don't like soggy, greasy chips!!

Yes, when I visited London in January and November 2006 I found a Fish & Chips place on my walk back from the Brittish Museum to see the Rosetta Stone!

It is in the SoHo District on a closed street with a Street Market. I will have to look at my Photos to find its name, but its only about 5 blocks from Picidilly Circus!

It has the Best F&C that I could find as I ate at several places there and could find None Better!

Thanks, RR

Those made from whole cut potatoes and fried in beef dripping are great. So many chips served up now are made from reconstituted potato and fried in veg oil. All very healthy but no real taste.

I have had French fries, but never British Chips.
I like Mc Donald's as well as any. If the oil is fresh and the potatos are just done, but over done, I would like them.

YES!! Thick greasy chip shop chips, covered in salt and onion vinegar with a pot of curry sauce for dipping ;-)
