I am a Chinese that live in Beijing. Since I joined Yahoo! Answers a month ago, I can't help but notice that a lot of hate China. Some of them hate us so much, it is more then just misunderstanding.

I am not nameing names here but some users make things up that is not true, for instances, a user wrote that china is able to manufacture products at cheap price becuse we pay our people with rice. Which is not true!

On an other question, someone asked that does China have a dress code, I tried to let the asker know that it is not real but for some reson she Chosen someone that said we do as the best answer.

There are also a lot of users that think we are still a communist nation. Which is also not true! My goverment is under a free market system with some traces of communist. There are now McDonald's and KFC everywhere. There is even a stock exchange in Shanghai! But why are people still thinks that we are communist?

So please, let us know why are people hateing us so much?

People who hate do so out of ignorance and fear. In the U.S. it is unfortunately quite common to hear people who have no direct knowledge at all, make remarks such as those that you have mentioned. These are not everyones' views, nor even a majority of Americans' views. In fact, it is not really hatred. It is ignorance, pure and simple. I have almost, but not quite given up attempting to correct some peoples' misconceptions. In some cases, it is simply not worth the effort.
Keep coming to yahoo and try to ignore the stupidity of stupid people.

I've been staying in China for many months and I notice certain things that make people dislike the Chinese so much. Politics aside, I think it can be the how a large number of mainland Chinese behave in public. Foreigners are not used to how they conduct themselves. Many people hate large numbers of Chinese tourists because their behavior is barbaric and rude to them. Look at Hong Kong for example. Many of these Chinese tourists spit anywhere, allow their children to defecate and urinate anywhere in public (even subways), talk unnecessarily loud, bump into people without apologizing, fuss and make big scenes when they are dissatisfied, push & shove when waiting for public transportation (as opposed to waiting in a line), and many other things. In Egypt, a 15 year old Chinese boy scratched his name into a temple wall of some kind which sparked outrage in China (since he puts a bad image on China). Chinese tourists in NYC are also complained about. So.... really I think one thing that affects the hatred of Chinese people are these kind of actions, which lead to stereotypes when really NOT all Chinese people act this way. A few have class and manners. And they have liberal minds as well. When it all comes down, is it really the Chinese people's fault for having these kind of manners/behavior? Not really. It's kind of the way society runs here... And the government allowed this.

I think the prejudice is left over (worse, passed down) from older days when the threat of communism was at it's peak.
I just read that as a result of the "1 child per family" limitation, the gender balance in China is extremely uneven. There are not enough women available for marriage.
I'd say there are mixed marriages (Chinese gentlemen and ladies from USA and other countries) on the horizon, and the old prejudice will weaken further.
The family limitation may prove to be the proverbial 'blessing in disguise'.

I live in Thailand, and I have no hostility towards China. China's government is Communist but the economy is market oriented. It is well observable that China's economy is doing very well and I think its pretty important for the region.

Americans frown a little due to the fact that the government is Communist and China really is stealing America's economy due to China's low costs of production.

Anyway's, I hope for all the best for everyone in the world.

I was not aware the "the world" hated China!!!
China is one of the countries that has taken the high toad to capitalism and is growing...industrially, faster than other Asian or European countries!!
Trade has proven to be an engine for growth in East Asia, equal to 81 percent of the region's GDP, which far outstrips trade's 55-percent share of GDP at the global level. Rapid expansion of China's trade has not only sustained its growth, but has also helped its regional trading partners integrate faster into global manufacturing. Exports of goods and services grew by 10 to 28 percent in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia, and contributed to economic growth rates over six percent in 2004 in all of these countries.

I believe it is your Government that many peoples fear as it is Communist. Unfortunately, that fear often gets misdirected as being toward the citizens of your country which is unfortunate.
Your country has made large and wonderful changes in the last 30 years. There are many Christians in China and that fact will bond you well with many other nations.
It is only a matter of time until China will become a close friend with the United States much like England is now.
As they like to say in America: 'Rock on Dude"!

Chinese workers may not be payed with rice but the point they were making was that the labor costs are much less when products are produced in China.

China has a proprensity to protect North Korea. China has a problem protecting the freedom of it's citizens. The government won't allow families to keep some children. A government's function is to protect it's citizens' freedom. Applying free market principals to it's economy have created wealth, but more can be done. A good Chinese would see that.

I do not hate china but can tell you that many americans do, they resent the growing competition from china for metals and other commodies and fear the mass of people in china. They govt propagates ignorance and bias as well against china, here in america we are fed lies as in our freedom is assured etc, the govt uses this to try to gain our support and control us easier.
