Your breast won't actually "empty" - it continually fills with milk, even as bub is eating. It will feel softer, maybe flatter after he's eaten for several minutes. But even after he stops sucking and falls asleep milk can still be squeezed/sucked out.
My baby won't actually pull away, he will comfort nurse until he falls completely asleep and starts to smile, then it will slip out of his mouth... So that thing about babies pulling away when they are done, not completely accurate in all cases! if he's (she's, sorry) been on there for around 10-15 minutes and sucking slows down, take him/her off, burp him, talk to him switch sides, etc. he'll seem kind of relaxed and floppy, very content, maybe sleepy when he's full. :)

When the breast is full it will feel more firm, but as the feeding progresses, it will become softer and smaller. Your baby might not suckle as vigorously on that breast and even pull away. Switch sides then and see if he's interested in the other breast.

It only takes about 8 minutes for a baby to empty one breast. If your infant is small you don't want to exhaust him by keeping him sucking hard. So be sure and switch to the other breast. If you are still not sure if your infant is getting enough, offer 2 oz. of warmed formula. If your baby takes that amount and seems to "retain" it (not spitting that back up), then you'll want to at least offer a bottle each time. Be sure, tho that you are eating good food and getting enough calories and plenty, plenty of water. This will help you build your milk supply. :) Happy mothering! :)

Often your breast will feel less full than the other one after a nursing session. The general rule is that after 10 minutes of nursing, the breast is empty.

The breast will go flat when it runs out of milk, Flip the baby to the other breast. The emptier breast will start filling up again.
