The square is for flat things such as your paper, or the lawn. All you need to measure is the sides, such as 9x12''.

A cube is a 3 dimensional thing like a brick. You have to measure three sides. So some block that is 9 inches long, 2 inches thick, and 3 inches tall is a total of 9x2x3=54,

if I'm not mistaken...

Ok say you have to find the area of a rectangle

Area = length x Width

The Length =7 cm
The width= 4 cm

Area = 7cm x 4cm
Therefore Area = 28 cm^2 .

Now say you have to find the volume of the Rectangle
Volume =height of the rectangle x The area of the rectangle

Height= 10cm
Area= 28 cm^2
therefore: 10cm x 28cm^2 = 280 cm^3

Another example

2 squared = 2 x 2 = 4

2 cube = 2 x 2 x 2= 8

Hope this helps

Cubes have 3 dimensions, squares just have 2

So cubes have 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices while squares just have 4 edges and 4 vertices.

Cubes have volume AND (surface) area; squares just have area
