Im upgrading my windows 2000 comp. to windows xp using a software (cd format) when I upgrade it will it delete ALLLL my files I have on my comp.

Not if you choose not to.

But you should definitely have full double backup of everything important. Things go wrong and since an error will destroy the copy on the hard drive you want two backups to ensure you have two copies (in case one of them is bad).

I would strongly suggest you choose to start from a formated system to give yourself a nice fresh system and reload what you need and want.

If you upgrade, and in US, call the people at windows and it ran less than $2 to get the SP2 disc upgrade. Depends on what version of windows you upgrade from if it already has the SP2 or not. Also you can get on line and buy the windows as OEM or as listed for bundle only. Supreme court says it is legal to buy now and use. The computer giants lost, for our gain. These are a WAY LOT cheaper. The OEM may not have instructions but you can always get on line to download instructions.

I went from Me to XP a couple of months ago... went very smoothly BUT some programs do not work with XP (such as kodak easyshare) and you'll have to get upgrades for those. It kept most of my files, but I did lose a few...

xp is a revised addition of 2000, you shouldn,t loose anything
