I am looking for a book I saw in a shop about ten years ago. The plot of the novel revolves around the writer Arthur Conan Doyle solving a string of murders, possibly he is trying to catch Jack the Ripper, I'm not sure. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Yes, I know of Time after Time, but I am positive it is Arthur Conan Doyle. I remember reading a line on the dust jacket about someone coming up to him on a street corner. It takes place in the late 19th century.

Are you thinking of "The Last Sherlock Holmes Story" by Michael Dibidan? It's a story of Sherlock Holmes trying to catch Jack The Ripper

"Time After Time" is a 1979 science fiction novel by Nicholas Meyer, writing as "Karl Alexander". Its plot speculates what might have happened if H. G. Wells had built a real time machine to travel to the 1970s in search of Jack the Ripper.

The novel was adapted to film the same year, under the same title, directed by Meyer as well.

I recognized it from having seen the film; I didn't even realize that it was a novel first.
