RAM is located on the motherboard . you need to find the name and make of the RAM already on your computer. usually you have to unsnap it from the sides to take it out of your motherboard. Look at the numbers it will have a PCXXXX
Ussually a PC3200 that is the model type you need. it will have a number after that 400 200. this is the speed. You will have a 128mb or 256mb. This will be the amount of RAM.Most computers have two slots. The best way to add RAM is to buy the extra RAM and add it to your empty slot. Go to http://www.qimonda.com/ and look around to see different pictures of the RAM board.

Go to PC World and find some freeware that will free up your RAM. One freeware download I like is Ram Booster. It works well and it doesn't cost a cent.

go to the computer support site or crucial.com, to find out what mem you need, down load a free program like sandra lite, it will tell you how many mem slots you have, and how many are full, if there full you will have to replace the mem, if theres open slots you can add mem, check mfg specs for memory maximum amout

install a ram booster; upgrade your hardware, check your motherboard for that wether its SD ram/ DDR2/3, etc.; delete unnecessary files/programs;if your ram is low, don't run too many applications at a time.
