It's not about the T.V. news saying it. It's about the military intelligentsia, generals and the soldiers saying it.

As for Condi and Bush, who is their right mind would want to admit their missteps fostered an environment for a modern civil war in the Arab region?

You do the math.

civil war
n.
1. A war between factions or regions of the same country.
2. A state of hostility or conflict between elements within an organization: "The broadcaster is in the midst of a civil war that has brought it to the brink of a complete management overhaul" Bill Powell.

Iraq is in a state of civil war only for the fact that it is two sides from the same country fighting each other. But being as the animosity and hostility between Shiite and Sunni go back to the death of Mohamed, long before Iraq was one country, I personally feel it is not a civil war. A civil war is generally for one thing: control of the government. This conflict is religious in nature

It's not a civil war. It's sectarian violence.

It's not about control of the government. The Shiites are bent on revenge and the Sunnis are just trying to survive.

The Kurds are just happy to be autonomous.

Even the government of Iraq realizes it's not a civil war.

Of course, all you arm chair generals who think you know everything and yet haven't bothered to come over here can think what you want.
