he is an evil mother F***Ker he should have got a longer jail term if he werent a footballer and had he done that on the street he would have got two years for GBH. The victim has a metal plate holding his face together, it was a disgraceful, shocking attack. it sickens me

What Cotterill did was a blatent act of GBH which automatically carries a prison sentence.
There was no need for him to smack the opposing player because he wasn't in a threatening position.
It was an act of sheer stupidity when he knew TV cameras were recording the match. He got what he rightfully deserved.

Of course it's fair to be able to press charges for assault and it's the judges responsibility to decide what is fair for the punishment. I just seen the incident on match of the day. What an idiot. He knew the cameras were there. Deserves all he got.

I think it'a totally fair because if you or I had done that,we would be in prison as well. It's about time sports "personalities" and performers faced up to their wrongdoings like everybody else.
Obviously, the issue of compensation will be a bone of contention, but that's to be expected, cos none of us likes paying out,do we?

If it was done out in the street he would have been punished so being on a pitch should make no difference! They get paid to kick a ball around not each other!

Of course it is more than fair, it wasn't a challenge that occurred as part of the game, it was assault plain and simple.

If anyone ATTACKS someone else be it on a Football Field or on a street corner, they must know they will be ARRESTED and CHARGED with ASSAULT or WORSE. And they must be ready to do the TIME if they have been found GUILTY of COMMITTING the CRIME.
