I can see that nobody answered seriously, first of all, your neighbour using your wireless will not cost you extra, it will just slow down your internet connection speed. To make your wireless connection secure you need to enable WEP or WPA on your modem, do not let this confuse you it is very simple. It is just like putting a password on your computer. Access your modem, open internet explorer and type the ip address in the address bar. This is usually something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 or192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. It should tell use what the ip address is on the manual for your modem if you still have it. But try those numbers in the address bar more then likely it will work. When you see the page for your modem go to wireless setting and enable wep or wpa, take a note of the code because you will need to enter it when you are finished to connect back to your wireless. There is usually a help button that will guide you how to do that. Hope this helps.

Rename your network from the router manufacturers default. Set up Wireless Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or WPA passwords - these are used by the various devices, not you, so they don't "get in your way". OK, neither is 100% secure, but then again nothing is - do you leave your front door unlocked because locks can be picked? No. Use a firewall - again the built-in Windows one is OK - not perfect but infinitely better than nothing. Good security - computer or otherwise - is like an old castle - lots of defences, some better than others, not just one big thick wall, which could still be eventually breached, climbed or tunnelled under.

Well the last answer hit it right about the IP and password. But the bill on your wireless depends. Me i have an unlimited data plan from Sprint like $40 a month. So if someone close were on it, it would slow down not make my bill any higher. If you are on the pay as you use, then your bill would be higher.

in the mean time get ya connection secured.if ya not sure how to do this call the customer helpline for the equipment you use for ya wireless router etc.they usually have a number in the box with the equipment when you first got it.if you dont have this look it up on the net.

easy, just activate the WEP feature in the access point or use the Access List feature, or you still can set the wireless signal to the lower one so your neighbor's cannot detected or use the wireless internet.
Have A Nice Try!!!

Your router should come with a password so that when you connect to it the first time you need to type it in or you wont be able to use it. Call your phone company and tell them your problem they will tell you what to do.

Call your routers tech support. They will be able to walk you through how to make your connection secure to prevent others from accessing it.
