Do things. Grow your self confidence. When things go wrong and it hurts instead of shying away use that pain. Let it make you stronger. Revel in it. For minor things intentionally go out and make the worst happen and then by surviving it you realize that it was so bad after all. Once you have perspective then fear becomes more of a cautionary device and stops ruling your life.

Stupidity is often mistaken for bravery.

You don't have to put yourself in a dangerous situation to try and overcome your fear. (eg - picking up an unknown spider)

First, study the thing that frightens you.
The more you know about how it (the spider) shows it is scared or angry, or how it shows acceptance, the easier it is to get close to it.

Second, see someone else handle the thing you fear.
It is easier to be the second person to do something scary than the first.

Third, Take a few deep breathes and reassure yourself as you go to overcome your fear. Approach the situation as calmly as you can. You are as good as any of these other guys that can relate around those things.

Good luck in freeing yourself from the limitations of your fear

First, evaluate if the fear has ground or is reasonable enough. If there is sufficient reason to fear a thing or a situation, do something to correct it, if it is difficult or beyond your power to do so, avoid it!
On the other hand, if there is no ground or reason for you to fear this situation or thing, you should see a counselor or better yet, a psychiatrist....

how to overcome any fear is to face it and see how little the fear actually is. some people have fears of spiders, so pick up a little garden spider and see how absolutely harmless it is.

All fears have their root in early childhood. It is then that we developed them. Search your memories of your earliest ones.
Once you remember those, deal with each one by mentally taking that cause, declaring it outdated by mentally seeing yourself digging a hole and burying it.
