My biology teacher told us that there IS a definite answer to this question, tracing down the evolution line, but he says he wouldn't tell us unless we're still studying biology in Grade 12. Does the chicken come first or the egg?

To take a contrarian viewpoint:
The Egg.
Any evolutionary mutations that allowed for the development of the chicken occurred as the egg was formed.
As a bizarre evolutionary aberration, this first egg was created abnormally and deviated from previous eggs.
And it became the first chicken.
The real question is:
What came before the chicken OR the egg?
