It worked last night so there shouldn't be anything wrong --- comes up "unsupported cartridge" or " Cartridge is missing"

Faulty cartridge......

I have the same printer though I have never had this problem... or any problem with it really. Try removing and replacing the cartridge, see what happens. If that doesn't work, I have no idea if you can return the cartridge or not.

I suppose it's possible that if you bought a non-lexmark compatible cartridge, it may not like that or if you used some kind of refill kit that could also cause issues. If not then you have two options, see if you can return the cartridge... or if you can return/exchange the printer.

But if none of that is an option, call Lexmark support, provided it us under warranty they may well end up sending you a new comparable model. I had that happen once with HP... they just sent me a new one, hardly any questions asked.

Usually that means paper jam, actually it means paper jam on any printer that doesn't have a "feed" button. If it's not a paper jam and there are no other physical problems with the printer, I'd say that it's just either a faulty printer or faulty cartridge (likely if it's not a lexmark cartridge but I can't be sure about that). I go back to what I said, ask lexmark support and if they don't help you see about returning the printer or goading them into sending you a new one.
