I have a Ford 98 Explorer it has stopped working and my snap on scanner is telling me that code 1260 'Theft detected, disabled engine' is showing on the scanner. I have tried to clear the code but no prevail.

I am getting spark and i have hooked the fuel pump up hot so the throttle body is getting fuel but it still won't start.

I also tried disconnecting the batter for 24 hours with hopes that the code went away this did no work either.

I have the original Key and the Theft light flashes quickly.

Any suggestions.

DESCRIPTION
Continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1260 indicates the anti-theft system has detected a break in the on-board security test due to an attempted theft or system hardware failure. When the PCM receives the message that a theft condition exists, fuel delivery to the engine is disabled on start-up. As a fail safe, fuel delivery is not disabled if the vehicle is operating and a system failure occurs. Use the proper key or remote or keyless entry to unlock the door; this will disarm the anti-theft system and enable fuel delivery to start the vehicle.

So you cleared the code? And the vehicle still wont start? Make sure you erase the code, the hit the connect button on the scanner so the scanner reads the computer again, when it comes back clear, turn off the ignition, then try to start the car. If this dosent work you might need to call a dealer about this. I have an OBD scanner and do my own work too.
