The only way a president can be a president for more than 8 years is if they are a vice president first. They can be elected twice if there total time would be less than 10 years.

Yes but only if the congress approved and changed the laws.

It was considered traditional not t serve more than 2 terms However FDR was the only president to exceed 2 terms in office. after his death it was decided that there should be a limit.

It is unlikely that the law will be changed.

Add on: I think he was speaking hypothetically, don't get your lefty panties in a bunch guys, geez, even I could figure that one out...

Not with the current laws. FDR was into his 4th term when he died, and it was the catalyst for the change, if I remember my history correctly. I think it is for the best---otherwise you could end up with a dynasty. The longer someone stays in power, the more time they have to manipulate things, and the more likely we could end up with some frightening results.

Surely you're joking!! Are you drunk on a Friday night Saturday morning? This President deserves the slammer. Yes, there are certain cases where you can extend a term "temporarily".

No he has been in for two consecutive terms just like Clinton so now we will vote for a new one. I think it will be voting for the lesser of the evils though.

you couldn't ask this at a worse time in american history.

bible-thumping dubya would have been impeached and kicked to the curb long ago, except it would just put tricky dick cheney in the oval office. no way.

your question at it's very core is frankly terrifying.
