Ohhh, not rude.

Crochet?, Knit? Make a ne?, play Cat's Cradle? Tie one end to a lizard and have a strange pet? Temporary dog leash? A very bad flea collar? A temporary clothes line? A handy door puller? A good way to remove teeth? A practice whip? A lasso for blow-flies? Very yuck tasting dental floss? A parcel handle? An emergency trousers belt? An emergency hand-bag strap? A good way not to loose your house keys? A primitive necklace? A very handy remembering deivce? A very poorly thought out burglar alarm? If you wrap it around your nose- you'll have a nose-warmer? A fishing line for very silly fish?

Great! Now that her homework's done, puet her to bed and I can tell you what you and the missus can get up to with that string when you've put her safely to bed. Let's just say the missus has been VERY naughty and requires punishment...

So your child turns up with a million things you can do with a piece of string, and the rest of the kids turn up with a handful. Aren't they going to think she is clever? or, are they going to speak to you about you doing her homework for her. She needs to use and develop her own imagination. Kids need to work things out for themselves. Encourage them yes, but please, no cheating eh!

This is more for your amusement mom... I was in jail and I have long hair. It was hot and sticky, so naturally I wanted to tie my hair back. All I had was a tampon (string and all), so I pulled the tampon apart.... Used the string for my hair tie!
