NASA's LandSat program has benefits to agriculture and other things. From the Landsat page:

"The instruments on the Landsat satellites have acquired millions of images. The images, archived in the United States and at Landsat receiving stations around the world, are a unique resource for global change research and applications in agriculture, geology, forestry, regional planning, education and national security."

This is the start of a really good book on technology.....the book, Connections, by James Burke, starts with the plow and goes on to pottery making, irrigration, writing, accounting, money exchange, etc....all of which are related and all are technology applications of their day.

yes it is very useful, for example, using nanotechnology, arsenic can be easily purified from the water by just sprinkling a few crystals of ferrous. a single crystal can purify abt. 1000 litres of water! also animal dung manure from cows, buffaloes etc is very benificial to the soil to make it fertile!
