I took a pregnancy test this morning, it was equate brand from walmart. The vertical line showed up very dark and pretty quick. The horizontal line is very faint. Does this mean I'm pregnant or not? I have never taken a test before.

Yes you are pregnant if that line showed up before 10 minutes. If it was after 10 minutes then that second line would be an evap line.
The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

yes pretty much when i was only 3 weeks preg. mine showed up like that.
but i am having the same problem as you I took a test yesterday and the line was clear enough to see but not as dark as i wanted to feel like it was right, so i went back to the store and got another one and it really didn't show unless you would tilt it in the light, so i went back to the store bought 2 more of a different brand so i could take them first thing in the morning and one showed up darker in positive side and the other one was really light. After 4 of them and they all have some sort of a shaded color i think its a definet positive.
you could try getting another test and see what it says, they have that test that actually says pregnant or not pregnant that is probably the best test for us in our situation ( lol )*smile*
but you know there is nothing more acurate than a blood test.
but i would definetly say your preg.
because if your not that far along that preg. level thats in you pee will not be very strong therefore the line will not be so dark.

Usually if there is a second line it is positive. Treat it as such and start taking your prenatals and cutting back any bad habits you have (i.e smoking, drinking) and go call a doctor and get in as soon as possible to have a blood test done. If you need take a digital test and it will tell you pregnant or not pregnant. They are a little more expensive but may ease your mind a little more. Do not neglect to go to the doctor however because they will have the extra things baby and you need to have a healthy happy pregnancy. Congratulations and good luck.

I've gone through two tests and what I believe to be implantation bleeding (I didn't have that with my first two)
The tests were both so faint I questioned if I really saw a line. I'm going to give it another day and take another test...But I feel pregnant and am proceeding like I am. CHEERS (I think you are too)

From my experience, if the horizontal line is there at all, you are pregnant. Congratulations. I recommend going to a clinic to get it confirmed.
