First, put on more than one layer of clothing - a long-sleeved tee over a short one, for instance, and long pants over tights (sweat pants are especially good); multiple layers help keep warm air close to the body. Next - eat something that is high-carb and hot, or drink a hot drink like tea or hot cocoa. Cover your head - something like a quarter of the body's heat is lost though the head because it has such a huge blood supply; this is particularly true if you have short hair. If you plan to continue to sit still and watch the TV, you might want to cover up with an afghan or throw.

Stay away from alcohol; it slows the body and dilates the blood vessels, causing you to actually lose heat.

Burr, I would have the home heating system checked out. It's a good idea to have the furnace checked annually to make sure it is operating properly and safely! Check out www. ekbdc.com for ideas! Good Luck stay warm!
