JD seems to be the most respected actor, but you often see good performances from Matt Dillon too. What do people think?

Johnny Depp all the way.
Wow it is something new to know that Johnny being a respected actor nowadays. only that he's being more matured in his acting and getting better than ever.
I agree with you sometime certain actor often show a good or even better performance up-front. As far i could been seeing that only happen if that actor was to act in the same flick with "other" better known actor. Or greatly depending on the movie they choose to act in.
Matt Dillon. I don't watch most of his movies but all i know that he certainly choose his film-to-act-in wisely. So that his acting are perfectly define. And we able to enjoy it.

I happen to be a big Johnny Depp fan!He's the best!Dillon's quite good.I liked a couple of his performances,but there's no way he could be compared to Johnny!

Johnny Depp - I love the way his characters are so fully realized, as if they were real people before he put them on film. Also that he is willing to play some very off-beat characters and does so w/respect for his character. In particular I'm thinking of the Libertine - it makes me uncomfortable to think of Wilmot (his character), but the acting was first rate. He's not afraid to be ugly for a role - & in the Libertine his face, and in particular his nose, was rotting off due to syphilis. More than just a pretty boy!
