Well, my birthday is this year and I'm turning 16. However, logically, if you want to go by birthdate, I'm still 15. I do want to watch Pan's Labyrinth, which is NC-16. Do they check your year or your birthdate?

The rating is NC-17, not 16 and it is not likely that you will get into a theatre at 15, not even with a guardian.

They go by Birthdate juz like buying cigarettes, u'll hafta be 18 by brithdate. You can either watch the movie by dressing up a bit older so they allow you in without checking or wait till the VCD comes out.

Oh i wish that were the case!i m 16 in less than a month..i wanna watch so many things but i cant..well u could wait till then its not a long time..

expect to present identification. I was 21 and was carded for an R rated movie.

no.
i was seeing R rated movies when i was 12 (friday the 13th, halloween, etc).
unless its a REALLY controversial film, they usually don't check at the theaters or rental stores.
