Do you remember personal stereos?
Well, an Ipod is just an over-hyped, modern day version of that.
You get to put digital audio files on it and listen to them in the same way you'd use a personal stereo to listen to stuff you've taped off the radio or telly back in the olden days.
There are much cheaper personal digital media players on the market with similar performance in terms of storage space, audio quality, battery life and stylish appearance.
You'll be looking for something which plays digital media files like MP3 MP4 WMA WMV RMA and all those other TLAs.
See if you can try one out first before buying it. Generally, you get what you pay for, i.e. if you pay a tenner for one, it'll have only a small storage space and it'll probably sound terrible.
Do a web search for MP3 player.
Cheers.

Ok, I have an Ipod video 30GB. And I can not live without it. It is wicked if you use it to it's full capability. I have around 5000 tunes on it a few movies and clips on it. I have a dock in my car so it comes through my main system, my front room and bed room. I run with it, go to the gym. I watch and listen to podcasts when I am on the plane or train. It is very sleek looking and the navigation is the quickest out of all the mp3 players. The only thing that makes me sick about my ipod is that it freezes now and again and itunes (the software you use with it) has a few issues since they upgraded it. Apart from that I love it and I've never bought a tune off itunes store in my life so don't be put off by that. Go to the shops and try a few others before you buy because there are cheaper options just like cars but this is a Mercedes Benz. It costs a lot when things go wrong etc. but it's classy. If you don't want class then just get something cheaper.....

There are really no reasons to buy an iPod becase you dont need it
The only reason thats possibly out there is that the person wants it.
But anyways....ipod prices are usually the same thorughout places
I would recommend buying it form Apple Online cause you can get it engraved for FREE so you can personalise it.
Also since you like the radio....i wouldnt really buy an Ipod, jsut a Mp3 that can carry songs and play the radio without buying any extra things...

Don't buy an iPod.
You need to tell us how much music you currently have, if you're keen on paying for music in iTunes (where most of the money goes to Apple and not the artists - i.e. Apple get a 60% cut automatically). And then if your iPod screws up and dies, you have useless files (AAC Protected) - so I suggest you go for a different MP3 Player/PMP (Portable Media Player).... such as the Zen Vision:M or a smaller capacity MP3 Player.
Again, it really does depend on how much music you have, otherwise it's a waste of money. Also if you're frequently downloading music, think about how much space you'll need for the next year or so for your MP3 Player.
I hope that helps!!

I think that the ipod nano is the best because-
1. It is really very attractive.
2. It is really very slim and easy to handle.
3. It is present in black and white.
4. It has a lot of good storage space.
5. It also has good sound quality.
6. It is easy to use.
It costs about 100$

well ipods are really good if u r on the go, or just at home. They can all play music, and u can get a special transmitter to listen to the radio, but ipod videos can play videos and games as well as music and lets you look at photos. The ipod nano can also play music and lets u look at photos. The shuffle is really small and can only hold 240 songs, but it is cheaper at £50-£55. You can buy them online from amazon, or apple or instore at johnlewis and apple. go to http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/ and from here you can browse all the the ipods. /good luck and hav fun if u get one!

LOL i appreciate MOOFASA!!! convinced get an ipod, ipod's are good, sound good, are relaxing, reachable, fairly large even as your bored, wanna watch a movie, wanna pay interest to music, wanna view images, wanna play video games, some thing. Get a minimum of both between the hot technology ipods so that you would get the hot effective elements like cool video games and so on. listed lower than are the options i advise: ~ New technology iPod (40, 60, or eighty gig) ~ iPod Chromatic Nano (16 gig) - large and wonderful!!! ~ in case you want the hot technology accepted (huge/fatter one) get white! ~ in case you want the Chromatic Nano (iPod Nano 4th gen) you are able to opt for between many colors, i advise pink because it truly is the iPod linked with the "i favor mine pink" corporation, and you money used to purchase the iPod will be donated to an AIDS scuffling with charity both have severe def sound, video, and funky new video games and so on. in trouble-free words the Chromatic Nano has effective elements the position you shake it and it promptly shuffles and also you are able to also turn the iPod on its aspect and it is going into conceal bypass mode the position you scroll by skill of each of the albums prepared alphabetically by using artist (both effective elements will be grew to grow to be OFF) good success! ...dont devour me

You want one because others have them, iPods are expensive and break easily, and the screens and shiny backs scratch very easily. There are quite a few better/cheaper alternatives.
Dont be taken in by all the hype.

they seemslessly link with itunes music store for buying music and itunes is the best media player available.
You can store thousands of song
and pictures

and data as it works as a hard drive too
podcasts are shortened TV progamees and radio shows in MP4 format that you can download and watch later.
