Fire ants.
Life span after being gut shot with a standard 12 gauge shotgun with a common #7 field load,(the most popular and often sold round) is minutes at best, from the range of most shootings, which according to statistics from the F.B.I. is under 25 feet in murders. Shock will block much of the pain in the short time you have left on earth.
Fire ants could take hours, and the pain is incredible. As an former EMT, I've seen both first hand.

Ants are a resource of proteins and minerals, some human beings interior the international consume ants, so there should not be a significant issue with ants. The worms come from eggs the dogs has eaten. that's possibly your dogs had eaten some eggs while licking the floor to consume the ants, yet not unavoidably at that element. The eggs would desire to be in yet another place the dogs has licked or issues it had eaten (hands, flora, balls, grooming itself, etc.). you will never be responsive to the way, so the appropriate is to take it in many circumstances to the vet.

Being eaten alive by fire ants would be worse. You would bleed to death quicker.

I'd say eaten alive by fire ants. They HURT! Imagine those tiny pinscers with venom on them eating you alive. Much rather bleed to death. Probably faster way to die too. I know getting gut shot would be terrible, but think of it this way, it's a faster death.

The worse option would be to be eaten alive cause it would be a painfully slow death.
Cause if I had a choice which one I'd want, I choose to have the gunman eaten by fire ants. That way I can live to see another day.

Philosophically speaking ( as you have raised this under that category!) there is a difference between the two miseries.
1.In the case of the ants , YOU have a chance to fight out , not give up and there are possibilies for you to act. If you donot act and succumb to the attack , accepting as fate you are a coward.
2. In this case of a gun wound , someone else has done that on you which was beyond your control.. You can still try to seek help.
In both the case of either Self Inflicted or External infliction you have to fight out and not give in
