Yet these people who come in and complain are the ones who stand there at the windows and bash on the doors and scream at them? These are also the people who come in a scream at other customers-people who love their animals, when they are trying to buy something? What do people think this is going to prove? Your not only going to give my animals a headache and get them stress- oh and hold on cause they are stressed they get sick. But these people are also giving my customers a headache- don't know about you but when I'm shopping I want to talk to the sales person particularly if I want animal products- There is so much involved with these products!!! Sorry if this is not you but this happens too often and I thought this woud be a great place to share it and see the respose!

Many stores promote puppymills, I believe this is the problem people generally have. Also some of them get fish in bags so crowded that the fish are totally unhealthy. Make sure you use a pet store that only sells pets people give them (so the store is a humane society :-) and that all the fish tanks look clean and healthy with very very few dead fish (realize that no store can keep 100% healthy fish in those numbers). Check to see if tanks with an unhealthy fish are being treated and therefore no one can buy from that tank. I don't think most petstores are bad, but I do have a problem with Wal-Mart selling animals. They should only sell the products.

If this a pet SUPPLY store than I don't see a problem. If you run a pet store that has puppies and kittens, etc being sold there there is a very valid reason to shut them down. These dogs are not coming from good breeders. They are often very ill and have genetics disorders that cause alot of pain and suffering for owners in the end. I have never once seen a pet store that cares for the animal properly. I highly suggest you stop selling animals and focus on providing good pet care supplies. You could support local adoption centers instead of promoting over population with poor genetic stock.

Pet stores often have animals that have been bred in terrible conditions. Most of the time, the staff has no real knowledge of what they are selling.

It was an advantage for me though. Years ago, a friend got me a box turtle from a pet store and it was dead the next day. I returned it and the sales clerk just told me to pick out another one. I ended up with a russian tortoise for the same price as a box turltle LOL

I dislike pet stores very much. If they sell animals, they come from animal mills, and I have yet to talk to a pet store employee who was actually knowledgeable about the animals they were taking care of and recommending products for.

I'm a guinea pig rescuer, and there are so many dangerous and inappropriate products for guinea pigs that it's ridiculous. When I used to visit such stores, I regularly saw associates recommending them. Of course, when you're paying college kids a whopping $7 an hour, why should they spend hours researching which of these products are actually safe?

So I just don't visit those stores. I only visit stores that sell supplies, not animals.

OK my friend, I don't know where you live, but wherever it is there is a problem in that society. I don't think many people hates pet stores. I particulary love it and if someone does not like a pet store there is no need to go inside neither to be around. You can always call the police on them if they turn aggressive or if they are harassing you or the animals.

I don't hate pet supply stores. It is mainly the stores that sell puppymill animals that are getting the bashing. There are some very good pet stores that sell quality animals that come from quality breeding. There are many good pets in shelters and fosterhomes waiting to be given a good home. Bottom line is one doesn't need a pet store to give an animal a good home.

WOW!! What a drag!!

Most every business has a policy that they may refuse to grant service to anyone.. Have the store manager escort this fool out of the store immediately when you see them coming.

Where in the world is this going on? I love my pet store and have always enjoyed all of my visits to any pet store.

I can't even imagine. But you certainly must get these people out of the store and away from your business.

Call the cops, they are breaking the law.

lots of the concern is about those that promote purebred doggies, because they arrive from puppy turbines the position the dogs stay undesirable lives are breeding machines and persons then purchase those doggies at outrageous prices and they are oftentimes very risky. we've an section puppy shop that only sells small animals and they are surprising. The animals are nicely cared for and the staff has a clue. I truly haven't any concern with those in any respect.

Wow, what pet store do they do THAT at?! I am guessing they sell puppymill pets. Those pet stores are awful, they are supporting puppymills! My neighbor is a puppymill breeder and I've tried EVERYTHING to get him shut down. No one cares! Not even the lazy dog warden (he takes payoffs).

Stop selling dogs and cats, if you have them. That will keep people from freaking. Petsmart doesn't sell them for a GOOD REASON, which is, PUPPYMILL breeders supply most pet shops.
