It can be extremely irritating... I usually have something important to say and I choose my words carefully... so when someone does not listen to me in the moment I speak I just can't stand it... the only way to handle it is to let them talk and then softly ask them if they heard you... they usually listen then because they see that they did not listen.. its odd but sometimes they dont even know that they were not listening! LOL
If you mean irritating when a person does not take your advice...
well that is a different answer.... You must let someone go ahead and live their own life.. they heard you... and they just have to live.
always

Very irritating. It's embarrassing if someone else sees that as well. It's as if you are talking to yourself. The people you are telling this to than have the nerve to say: 'who are you talking to'? It's as if you are talking to a brick wall or yourself.. What's even worse is when you are talking about your life to them and they don't listen and you listen to them all the time when they are talking about their lives. Or i answer their questions on Yahoo! Answers and they don't answer my questions i get really pissed off.. But i get them to and when you have an argument it is easy to say what ever and how they ever annoyed you. It happens to me a lot and a lot of people ignore me so i talk to myself lately. You do get used to it and you live with it and you expect anyone to ignore you.
Have a nice day!

It has made me who I am today. At first notice of such behavior, I have learned to shut up and mind my own business. There is a fleeting moment of irritation. This is part of the reason I am so quiet most of the time.

To most people it's irritating because you either felt left out or just feeling unimportant. But to me, I felt depressed...I guess no one is the same.

VERY IRRITATING!!!!! When my boyfriend or our roommate are playing cards, video games or WOW, I could tell them that the house was on fire and they would never hear me, even if I came into the room on fire, screaming!!

I know what you mean! Especially if they do at the beginning, and then , all of a sudden they cut you off by focusing on something outside the conversation and then you have to press pause on your nose!

Very, but you get used to it after the 100th time then you become invisible, so even when you talk no one sees you so they can't listen....
