For good, free and recommended security programs, please go here

I recommend AVG as an anti virus, although eTrust's 12 month free trial is excellent (I'm using it and am extremely impressed).
If you need other programs, go for Zone Alarm firewall, AVG anti spyware (formerly Ewido) and SpywareBlaster.

If you click on the names in that list I gave you and it will take you to the official download site.

Please ensure that you keep them all updated for full protection and check for any updates when you first download them.

I recommend you AVG Antivirus or Avira AntiVir Personal Edition. Both are free, just choose between the two. If you want to, you can also get free trials of other antiviruses like Zone Alarm, Windows Defender, Norton, & McAfee. You can also download some separate security, firewall, & antispyware programs like Spyware Doctor & Spybot Search & Destroy.

Just go to any of these sites to find & download the programs:

ok' Now for the certainty. there is no such element as a "appropriate unfastened AV" All unfastened AV's have there secure practices holes. while it includes unfastened AV's there all turds. What you will desire to do is %. the only that stinks the least. AVG, No root kit secure practices, won't be able to eliminate a million/2 of what it shows, valueless junk. Avast, No heuristic scanning interior the unfastened version aside from e mail. You bypass to a internet site it is contaminated with that type virus it won't locate it or eliminate it. there are various viruses that i in my opinion seen Avast unable to eliminate. Avira, Has issues updating. It additionally has problems with faults positives. The time for a reliable AV is earlier your computer gets contaminated. many human beings at here can help be responsive to that the interest of a reliable AV is to freshen up later on. that's some thing that i chanced directly to be a lie. a reliable AV will shop it from happening. the only one I even have seen so far that works that way is Kaspersky. in case your computer is sparkling that's going to stay sparkling with Kaspersky on watch. you could acquire all that unfastened junk in case you prefer and notice if that's going to sparkling it off. yet there is purely one AV appropriate now which will shop it sparkling. Kaspersky. (EDIT) the only under me has no theory what there speaking approximately. by the time you acquire any unfastened AV, Then a unfastened firewall you will use greater memory then a multi functional could use. that's ordinary wisdom that AVG & Avast with a unfastened firewall will use greater memory. yet another considered one of those lies i exchange into telling you approximately. unfastened AV's and firewalls use greater memory. it is the certainty. any guy or woman who says they don't are the two mendacity or don't be responsive to what there speaking approximately.
