I'm going to say No, because I read about him at wikipedia.com, and I would imagine that if he really fought those animals it would have been included.

each time Tarzan is pronounced, i think of of no person else yet Johnny Weismuller. No, his stunt doubles did. They wouldn't let him do it for the same reason that they wouldn't let any star do it. He was a valuable property and if he got hurt or killed, they couldn't make money off of him anymore. He may have wanted to, but I'm sure the studio said NO.

Believe it or not..He did!..However, they were mostly 'stuffed' lions and leopards, or men leaping about in gorilla suits while he said "N'gawah" at them!..'N'gawah' was the only word he knew, and it meant everything!..'n'gawah'-come here..n'gawah- go away..n'gawah- here come the elephants..n' gawah-eeeek, a snake!..It was hilariously funny!..He was supposed to be in deepest darkest Africa, yet whenever he yelled "n' gawah" for the elephants to attack the baddys..They were INDIAN elephants!...Am i confused?..Am i in the wrong country?..Has Australia won back the ashes?..Ahhh, forget it..Im gone.."n' gawah"!.

no... but he was able to outswim the real crocodiles, as he was an olympic swimmer... who went on to act....ok, badly, but it used to mean the school holidays were upon us!!!
