First, it's no longer resembles rounders.
Second, it's been played in many different variations throughout the US for for at least 180 years. The various versions were pretty much brought together and the rules codified by Alexander Cartwright, a New York City native and resident. Some variants are still played in areas where there isn't space for a diamond, but the basic rules still apply
Baseball is even bigger business in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, Taiwan and Japan, and is growing in South Africa, Australia and many western European countries.
Unlike soccer fans, baseball fans can be extremely raucous without beating and killing one another, so there's yet another vote for baseball.
One more thing. Baseball is referred to as the thinking person's game.

For people who are unfamiliar with the game of baseball, it may seem a slow boring game. It is however a "thinking man's game". Every time the pitcher throws the ball the situation on the field completely changes. One would have to know the game before the strategic intricacies are realized. The rule book is huge. The reason most players stay in the minor leagues for several years is that it takes that long to learn the game on a Major League level.
Terence Mann from "Field of Dreams" : "The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This game: it's a part of our past. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again"
George Will : "Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona. Not all holes, or games, are created equal."
Red Barber : "Baseball is dull only to dull minds."
And perhaps my favorite :
A. Bartlett Giamatti : "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone."
This is why Americans love baseball.

A game for girls, eh? Well, baseball is one of American traditions. We Americans think that it's exciting because it's a game which combines power, speed, tactics, agility, vigilance, instincts and teamwork. Baseball is more complicated than it looks. You can't just be a power hitter or a speedy type of player to be good. I know that baseball sometimes looks like it's lacking teamwork but the truth is it does involve teamwork. Think about it. When players are out on the field, they have to have good communications with each other otherwise a lot of blunders will be made. For example; pitchers and catchers have to agree on what type of pitch should be made, good communications between the infielders, good communications between catchers and infielders, etc. An example of vigilance and speed would be, players on bases have to be vigilant and have to know when it's safe to run and steal a base. An example of tactics would be, the order of batters which will enable a team to hurt the opponents in a lot of ways, pitchers deciding on a type of pitch which will get the opponent batter. Also, those amazing plays that people sometimes see on the field is more than just agility, speed and power. It also involves instincts. So you see, that's why Americans think that it's exciting. Maybe it's the same way with you and soccer.

baseball - a game for the mind.
to play, and even watch you must be paying attention and have a good knowledge of the game and strategies used. it takes a great deal of skill and awareness to be able to hit a 90+ mph(145+ km/h) fastball, and then distinguish that fastball from any number of different pitches varying in speed and ball action. or to be able to field a ball in the infield coming back at you twice the speed it was traveling when it connected with the bat, whether you're on the mound, at short, or any one of the bases, and then make a split-second decision as to what to do with the ball once you've got it in your control. keeping in mind that the 7 men in the outfield/infield were all positioned in accordance with what pitch was thrown in anticipation the batter would hit into the defense. ever tried tracking and catching a fly-ball in the outfield with the sun at the highest point in the sky? not an easy thing to do.
there is much more to baseball than you give credit, it is one of the most fun games to play and watch, and because the game moves so 'slow' is why it makes for such a great game to watch with friends and family while knocking back a few COLD brews
soccer on the other hand is a simple game of kick-and-chase, thats why red-blooded Americans play it only until they're early-adolescent, then quit for more complex games such as American FOOTBALL, and BASEBALL. even NBA basketball is more exciting to watch than soccer.. and you limeys must feel quite a bit of disdain for David Beckham turning you all down for a few dollars more(oh i'm sorry it wasn't for the money, it is for the children isn't it?), but it's alright because we don't want him here anymore than you do.

It's part of the American past time. It's been around for a long time. Have you ever been to a professional baseball game? The things the players can do nowadays is amazing. It takes special talent like all other sports to be one of the best. To play 162 games a season every night takes a special breed.

Rounders and baseball are two totally different games period.
That's just like saying why do people outside the US love and play soccer so much? When it's really just kick ball for guys who can't play a real sport.

Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Have you ever been to a baseball game? Have you ever played the game of baseball? Have you ever stood in the batter box and tried to hit a fast ball flying inches past you at close to 100 miles per hour? Have you studied the game in order to learn and appreciate what it takes to be good at it?
It's pretty clear the answer to all these questions is no. American could very well ask the same question about the game of cricket. Of course I personally would not attach any insult to my question.
Maybe you should play against one of our girls international softball teams. Chances are you would walk away with a certain degree of respect for the game. Our women's teams are the best in the world and our women are some of the greatest athletes in the world.
Have a nice day mate!!

For starters rounders is a game played with a tennis racket and a tennis ball. Where on the other hand baseball can be played by girls here, although softball is for girls like yourself, you know nothing about the sport obviously so why comment on it.

At the competive level, boys play baseball and girls play softball. both are great games to play and to watch. baseball starts in the spring and when it starts spring training (practice in arizona or florida), u know winter is over. softball is becoming really popular and along with basketball, is a sport many girls play. softball is also played by adults. both games are simular with minor differences in distances and demensions. mlb is a journey, it takes you from spring training in march to the world series in october. when the season ends it is sad becuase winter is coming and baseball is gone when u need it most. in winter there trade rumors and free agent signings, this is called the “hot stove league.

would it help if we didn't use our hands, had the officials keep the official time of the game in their heads, had offsides penalties, had almost every game be decided 1-0, allowed ties, encouraged our players to fake an injury in an attempt to get other players thrown out, and held our championship game once every 4 years?
