Condoms are 99% effective when used correctly. But nothing is 100% effective. That's why it's called safer sex, not safe sex. So condoms are your best bet, but getting tested AND using condoms is an even better option.

You can;t be that safe w/o having him tested, Even using condoms are not 100% safe. remember, the majority of people with STD's dont even know they are carrying them.

I have to say that getting tested for STDs and being open is the way to go. Then, when you do have anal, you wont have to use any protection, assuming you are monogamous.

Using a condom is the best way to be safe. It's never 100% safe though.

condoms work on anal too but nothing is perfectly safe, why dont you both go to the county health and take the test, and swap answers, and feel safe.

Well certainly wear a condon till he gets tested. But get tested, the both of you. No protection is 100% and you can't be 100% sure both of you are disease-free till you both get tested.

I think the reason you are asking this question is becasue you fear that when you ask your partner this question that he will say no. But rest assured that many guys employ common sense and are willing to get tested. One guy I used to date not only asked me to get tested, but was willing to do so himself. We even went to the clinic together!

Wish you well. :)
