I believe that God wants us to question our faith because that this the only way truely to understand it. Blind obedience means nothing, it could be done from sheer fear of retribution and I don't believe that is what God wants. If God did not want us to questions things he would not have given us free will to make choices.
I believe organised religion gives people a faith but that you can have it without organised religion as well. It is easier to have faith in something when someone else has faith in it too so you don't think you are simply crazy!
Perhaps this is a kind of game to him , a bit like civilisation or the sims! He has given us enough free will to make choices and we have the choice to accept that the concequences of our choices are due to our own actions or to believe he had comlete control over the situation all along. What do you believe...?

The concept of "faith" means NOT asking questions. Both Christianity and Islam can only survive as long as their followers have FAITH and believe what they are told. The interesting thing is that it is NOT God who has commanded this of them but mere men who claim to represent God. And just how many different cults (that's what they are) of Christianity (especially in the US) and Islam are there all with their own versions of this?
Think about it.... If you want to think of God as an individual, a supreme being then did He/She/it give you an intelligence and rational mind so that you would just blindly swallow the guff some con artists in robes throw at you?
You will never find the truth if you don't search for it and ask questions. Interestingly Christianity and Islam both warn against those who would question their teachings.

Yes, seriously enough, God does not "EXPECT" anything !!
Only human beings have "expectations" because we do not KNOW what will happen, for that matter, even what ALL has ever happened !
Yet, the question is good enough to be taken a SERIOUS notice of...
Once, we develop self-awareness to highest peak levels, we would evolve way beyond the sensory perception levels, deep enough to make any faith, questioned or otherwise, proof of our own faith and all such "acquired" qualities to be redundant !
No more ethics, moral codes would be needed to guide us.
Once a person evolves enough to actually experience (not just imagining, visualising etc) everything around as a part of oneself, love is the only way such a person can be, and action would flow forth by itself ( and only in the right way , as per the need of the situation) !

Awesome question! and if you are asking for yourself I see the first part of your question in the first part of your answer. Do each of us not write our Dear God letters daily. Dear God, what do you want from me? It seems to me that any being brave enough to trust their own connection in asking will be given the courage to trust the answers which they receive in their own hearts. Is it not through the heart that the Divine speaks? In "Conversations with God, an uncommon dialogue" Neale Donald Walsch explores many of the questions that the collective We ask of the Divine. I personally enjoy the journey of never quite knowing exactly how "things" are going to "turn out". This for me is the essence of Faith. To embrace with a willingness the uncertainty of each day with the confidence that All Is Well. Organized Religion, no matter what the Faith, I believe, offers a set of "Guide lines" by which we can comfortably trust no matter what that All Is Well. Some seem to encourage the personal relationship and Connection with the Divine while others seem to empose control and fear. Here's the scary fun part. Each of us chooses and the band plays on. Namaste

Each religion teaches differently. I believe in my religion he wants both. He wants you to accept he exists, but question his existence to come to the conclusion that he does exist. The irony or combative nature of the principle is that we should not hold still to beliefs, but challenge and change the world. We cannot change the world if we just accept. what is said, we must challenge it. However, we are commanded to have a relationship with God in the first commandment, I am God.--Jewish Version.
We should do organized religion, but what is fed to us is not what is God's belief. Judaism teaches to look at the question and find what is right. there can be several right answers and no one is greater right.

God has no expectations of us... He is beyond all wishes and expectations.
However, in our own interest, it is better for us to question before believing, because that is the route which can give us deep rooted faith. Faith that is based on subservience or timidity may not prove to be strong enough to carry us too far.

I think we need to question everything. I don't think we know what God really wants other than by what we are taught and by history etc. If we don't question then those that would mis-lead will guide the weak the wrong way and that cannot be good. I see plenty of that now..

god wants you to find the right faith so that you can find the true way of living. of course he wants you to question everything that you hear and don't accept everything that you are told. you can use the organized religion, but you must your own wisdom to see which part of it is true and which is not true. during the long history of all religions there has always been people who have altered some parts of a religion to their own interest, they have abused religion to get to wealth and power. so you must be alert to find the parts which are not the true words of god. in doing this you must seek god's help. god really helps us finding the right way.

Questioned faith.
A god that has given his "creations" free will would not expect those creations to follow it blindly, but because they have learned -- through questioning -- the "right" path.
