depends on which version of harvest moon you're talking about
in back to nature, on ps(one) you go SW (down left) from your house, keep going past the hot spring, and head north (up) when you can - that's the path to the mountain - after you cross a bridge, you'll be at the peak of mount moon
in friends of mineral town/more friends of mineral town, on GBA, you go south (down) from your house, past the hot spring, then head west (left) til you can go north (up) and after you cross a bridge, you'll be at the peak of mount moon
