Other than true love, I knew girls that married military for the bennies. Then usually like to 'go out' while their men were out on mission. Those were the younger girls. But on the other aspect why marry cops or firefighters? Theres a lot of an attraction to men who are dedicated like that. You know a man in uniform...

Anyone one of us could die at any time, more people die on our roads than in the military these days. They marry these men cause they love them. I've never heard of anyone choosing a spouse based solely on life expectancy.

it is because they love the person not because of the job they are in, not just because of the benefits they could get from them (though some take advantage of that), not because of anything.... it is because it's "him", not his status, you loved him for what he is and whoever he is, love is about accepting the totality of the person, and the willingness to take the risk, through thick and thin… however, don’t abuse them or rather they shouldn’t be abusing you. "equality"...

That is exactly why. If the hubby suddenly die they have all the state benefits etc. so in my opinion most of them count on it.
