How different is Adobe Pagemaker from InDesign??

Actually I am planning to design the newsletters and the college magazine and I need to do a lot of layout and alignment jobs. Now I have only InDesign with me and no Pagemaker. So can I use InDesign to do all the magazine work.

And whats the basic difference between the two??

i've never used InDesign but it's my understanding that it's just PageMaker with Photoshop elements added to it. My brother uses both for work and he said that InDesign is a good program but it lacks some of the shortcuts of PageMaker. Granted we both learned how to use PageMaker about the same time so he's a little more comfortable with it.
I would say yes though, that you could use InDesign for all of the work you need to do.

Adobe stopped development on Pagemaker in 2001, since it is been replaced by the better Indesign, but with more unfamiliar shortcuts, but it is changable.
