I smoke. Started 30 years ago. What's the pros? Cannot think of one... Except that I enjoy it.
As for cons: the list is endless! With emphysema and death being the worst . Then there's the cost. The smell. The messes they make...ashtrays (in and out and around). so on and so on........
why do I do keep on doing it? because it's so dang hard to quit--very stressful and Im already stressed too much. plus I'm already to fat....don't want to gain more weight. That was the original reason for starting....not wanting to gain weight.......
stupid me....

Ok, I've been smoking for 30 years. There really are no pros other than to maintain the habit once addicted. The con is that it can cause health problems. But, I believe that the health problems already existed and smoking only enhanced them.
And now the other side of the story:
There are NO health problems caused by secondhand smoke unless the non-smoker is repeatedly stuck in an unventilated room with smokers. You will not be affected by cigarette smoke if you walk by someone smoking or are in the same room if well ventilated. You have the same or greater chance of aggravating your health problems by following a buss or truck, sitting around a campfire, using chemicals in your home, etc.

There are no pros to smoking but the cons well lets see 1. smells bad not just your home but your body and hair 2. costs a small fortune to smoke 3. lung cancer 4. heart disease 5.poor circulation 6. premature ageing 7. guilt for smoking in public 8. loss of control of your life the addiction is strong and very hard to beat. I could keep going but that was enough to motivate me into quitting after many years of smoking and after only 2 weeks free I notice a change in my skin and breathing. Don't start and you will never have quit it's a no brainer.

i'm a non-smoker. but a friend died of TONGUE cancer painfully due to smoking. and that's just one disease you risk out of it.
Also a non-smoking colleague got cancer of the tongue from his smoking parents.
