if a fly was flying in a convertible car from the dashboard to the rear seat at 10 miles per hour and the car was travelling in the other direction at 10 miles per hour, which direction would the fly be going?

The fly moves backwards but it will keep at the same place as the velocity of fly is the same as car.

Assuming that the convertible's top is up and the windows closed so that no wind will interfere with the fly, he'll be going backwards from the dashboard at 10 mph and 0 mph relative to the outside world.

Same way like before but faster. The gravitational force makes the fly go at double the speed backwards.
