In the 90s they tried with Cop Rock and Hull High.

I must say I was facinated by the Buffy the Vampire Musical episode a few years back. Not all that great, but much superiour to previous attempts and it worked for the show.

Would you watch a mostly singing./ dancing drama tv show?

I remember Hull High, and it would probably initially appeal to the Disney crowd set if they did something similar in premise. But, Hull High, didn't have a premise really. It was like a singing Beverly Hills 90210, but with really bad songs/ dances and dialogue.

Cop Rock was a decent premise, but was trying to do too much. Not only was it trying to be a musical drama, it was also trying to bend some boundaries (a la pre-NYPD Blue). People were not bought into a musical cop drama.

I don't think anything would really work today, except maybe on the disney channel. I mean, back in my day, they had those horrid shows like Kids Incorporated, that millions of kids adored - and launched a lot of careers, Martika, Mario Lopez and most famously Stacey Ferguson (aka Fergie).

BTVS episode was good. Was good for THAT show - just one time. Anything more than that would have been massive overkill and ruined the brilliance of BTVS.

So overall, I'd say no - it would not work on a major network, unless dialogue, writing, singing, premise, actors, etc were really the best tv had to offer....then...maybe....but not a resounding yes.

No, I wouldn't. And that's only because I don't like musicals. And a musical drama would be too much.
