sand ( if you are talking about dry paths or wet paths - do the same thing they do for painted floors add sand - use a slow drying adhesive mixed with sand and lightly scatter it on the stone - clear adhesive and a sand the color of the stone would be best )

If its not rain or ice causing the problem, it could be lichen growingyou can use a pressure hose or simply a little bleach and hot water and scrub them down with a hard yard brush, if its ice or rain water, a little sand or salt sprinkled should do the trick.
in really extreme cases of lichen you could use caustic soda and hot water, but take care not to get it on your skin,hope this helps

use a taroil wash which will kill the algae that make your paths slippery you can get it from garden centres

try a fast-drying, non gloss varnish with sand granules mixed in. large enough to make a difference but to not detract from the cobblestones . A product called "Jap dry" helps varnishes dry faster also.

a thing becomes slippery when it has less friction...
you should increase the friction.... apply materials that would make it rough...
