Tonight when I left work it was the first time in a few weeks my windows weren't frosted over. Why is that?

For most of the last month or so the temperature at night has been dropping down into the mid to low 20s. The average temp. during the day has probably been in the mid 50s. When I left work tonight the temp had already dropped to its lowest this winters (about 20) but my windows didn't have a spec of ice on them. Anyone have a clue why? (by the way, I'm not complaining)

For what it's worth the high today was probably in the mid 40s (where it's mainly been mid 50s) and the temp was probably below freezing by 6:00-6:30 (sundown is about 4:30-4:45). Also, my community is right next to a large - but shallow lake (average depth is about 30-40 feet).

the days when there was no frost is due to low humidity in the atmosphere...usually after a colder day than normal

It's likely the result of the arctic cold front that has been moving in. It has very cold, dry air. In case you didn't know, in order to have dew or frost (which is frozen dew), the air temp must reach the dew point (literally the point when either dew forms or fog forms). So the past month, the temp has been reaching the dew point or 100% humidity because the air has been just enough moist to allow this. Now with some drier air, the dew point is lower, and the temp probably never reached it. So that's why you had no frost or ice.
