Going about 95mph in my 87 chev sub ,my oil pump takes a **** ? My rod bearings are at the bottom of my oil pan .What would be the most cost efficiant route ?Having a machine shop rebuild it or get a crate engine I can do the engine swap myself,i have the engine out.

well kinda think about it you going to spend like 4-5k on a crate engine you will spend less than half to rebuild the engine you have and also gives you a chance to upgrade the components of the motor.

Yeah, just rip it apart and rebuild, ned bearings, the crank might burnt, then a new oil pump, not alot when compared to a new crate engine. But you dont know the extent of any other damage due to the oil pump failing.

I agree with aneaves72. If you have it already out- take it in and get it rebuilt. It will be cheaper in the long run and you can put some better stuff in than what came with it.
