J.J. redick is just another in a long line of Duke players that were stars but don't make a impact in the nba. The only exception is Elton brand and corey maggette. Landgon, avery hurley, jay williams, mike dunleavy, parks i just knew when we drafted him we where getting another overrated duke guy
The magic could have got Brewer or douby maybe marcus williams or renaldo blackman anyone of them guy is better than redick

I really blame the system.

Mike Krzyzewski has created a system that works incredibly well in the slower, less physical college game and that focuses on the entire team. When you take these players into the fast, physical, superstar-centered game that is the NBA, they don't have the skills available to be superstars.

For proof of this, look at last season's NCAA tournament. They lost to a larger, more physical LSU team. When faced with this, they shot 27.7%. This is ridiculous, especially when you compare this to the rest of the season.

There are definitely Duke players who have adapted to the NBA, but it is truly an adaptation and is dependent on that player's desire, skills, and their NBA coaching staff. In a way, Krzyzewski, who I believe is a great COLLEGE coach, does his player a disservice by not adequately preparing them for the next level. His focus is on creating a championship college team, not on creating great players who can succeed in a variety of systems.

JJ's alright, I don't see what you have against him... He's a spot up shooter, and the Magic really lack a 2 guard with a good shot. Grant Hill was never a good shooter, he made his points slashing.

The guys you listed are questionable too... Marcus Williams off the field troubles, Renaldo Balkman's raw offensive capabilities, Douby's size, & Ronnie shooting... If you're willing to sit there, you can find fault in anyones game.

The Magic picked up JJ to give them a 2 guard that can shoot the ball... What else do they need? They're covered at the point, they've got big men, Trevor Ariza at the small forward spot. The one thing they needed was a shooter at the 2 spot, & that is what they picked up...

what about Shane Battier
Carlos Boozer
Luol Deng
Chris Duhon
Grant Hill

not everyone in the college game transfers well into the pros
and redick doesn't get the minutes to show what he has
the magic are a guard heavy team and i don't see him getting any time this season

I hate duke, but the as you said brand, and maggette have had solid careers and shane battier as well. Grant hill was great before all the injuries so its about half and half. I mean , they have so many guys in the league if half are good, thats pretty good. also, chris duhon, carlos boozer.

Some of them do very well. Oddly, overall the ones that leave Duke early do the best. Generally, however, they do not hit the NBA ready to play, much less start.

i would put grant hill in the exception catagory....before he got his first ankle injury, he was a high flyer.

it all depends on what the team really needs... if the suns really needed a hmmm pg, they would evaluate all the point guards that are in the draft, plus depending on what pick they get in the draft, they would have already had their eyes on a certain pg, interview them, and if they are still available in the draft then maybe they would take them. reddick has NO DEFENSE at all. only a jump shot. that was just an example. if you had someone like cleveland for example again.....labron james....every team regardless of what kind of player they wanted, they were selecting him, so they can restructure their team around him. see what i mean? i hope i didnt confuse you

P.s. Jay Williams was great before his acident, so don't diss him cause you know nothing about him
