And how does it differ from craft, or the very strange, in your opinion?

There is a crossover I think, between art and craft.
For example, sometimes I think when people admire a 'good' painting, they are really admiring the 'craft' of it, how well it is painted.
People often expect that artists should be craftsmen(or women!), that art should be well made-if they don't think it is, then it often upsets people-'my five year old could have done that!' etc, etc.
I agree, to an extent, that craft forfills peoples needs for something useful-although this could include peoples desire to see a 'realistic' painting.
I think true art shows us some truth about the world. It dos not have to be decorative, or appealing, or financially worth anything. It communicates something which can be done in no other way-not through music or science or literature or any of the other humanities.
As for the very strange, I often think it is arts job to be a bit strange! Who would do weird stuff in life if it wasn't for the creative types? The very strange can enrich our lives and is nothing to be afraid of!

Original art is one of a kind and not meant to be duplicated. A craft can be and is meant to be recreated by others. The very strange art is either one of two things: A visionary artist creating work before people are ready for it or Someone starving for media attention and public recognition any way he / she can get it.

I am an artist and I see most 'art' as another way of conforming these days, it's almost like a new kind of religion. The craft movement is much more honest, it makes what it makes because it loves to. The art world is perpetually trying to outdo itself and seems to be full of pretentious bullshit.Art is wonderful but money is ruining it. It would appear that artists are chasing the money rather than doing the art. Cynical I know, but true.

For me, art is something that comes out of your guts. Something you NEED to do, something you HAVE to do!
A painter for example, has to translate his or her inner self on their frames. If you feel revolted, art is revolution. If you feel "blue", art is melancholy, spleen, dark colours. If you feel happy and you live in a nice country, like Provence in France or California, art is the landscape you love, the local artisans, etc. and your colours will be luminous.
I try to paint during the winter, but only on sunny days. If there is no skylight, if I have to use artificial light there is no way for me to paint. So art is LIGHT.
For a writer, art is originality, style. A nice story, told in a nice way.
For a dancer, art is figures, choreography etc.
For a poet, art is love. Or hate. Or revolt. Depends...
For a musician ... I don't know what art is for a musician, although I played the piano (classical) for many many years. For a musician, I think art is -whatever his style- sound that comes from the soul.
As for me, it is all those together!

Art always has a deeper innate meaning, and its creator's intention is to speak to the viewers in some way, even if they don't got the message or the message is not worth paying attention to.

Craft is driven by function first of all, and by a message second, or third or fourth, if at all

It's basically creativity, I guess a craft when you make something it has a use other than to just look at whereas art is a form of expression and something just to look at
