If you have, what was the reaction of the audience in the theater when Darth Vader said to Luke Skywalker....I am your father.

I was there a few days after release, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the theater was dead quiet at that point...I honestly think most people didn't believe what Vader said. I certainly didn't believe it until episode VI came out....I figured it was a trick of some kind. But when Yoda confirmed it, I thought I could hear multitudes of jaws thwacking against the theater floor.

Of course, I was only 11 at the time...

Daaaaammmn, that's goin waay back. I really don't remember much of a crowd reaction. But I do remember the talk afterwards, and that several places had TV shows that accidentally gave that ending away, and I rememebr the day Jedi came out, Jane Paully was interveiwing some kids who got to see a sneak preview and one of the little bastards let the Darth Vader dying secret outta the bag (sorry if that was a spoiler :) )

Well, most of them already knew , so the surprise was not that dramatic. It was a good scene craftily directed. One could appreciate it more if he started watching from Episode I until Episode VI.
