Zoloft saved my life! I'm sorry your having so many problems with it. I was on lexapro at first and it made me so much more depressed and I could not get out of bed I was totally exhausted! I would recommend having your doctor try another med. All meds work different for different people. Don't give up just try something else until it works. There is hope out there!

All anti-depressants have nasty side effects during the first month you take them and for a month after you stop. Most of these include, but are not limited to, rapid mood swings, sudden increase/decrease of appetite, sudden weight loss/gain, shakes, anxiety, nausea, etc.. Personally I have a problem with doctors prescribing any of these as a long term solution. As you have found, they always carry side effects that cause problems. Zoloft is like most drugs, you can always stop taking them, but it's gonna hurt. Talk to your doctor about it and see if there is a safer way to stop than just quitting. And go to counciling on at least a biweekly basis while you are changing medications or coming off of them. It's going to be a rough ride. Anticipate the problems and they will have less impact on you.

It is safe. Zoloft is a non-addictive anti-depressant. Everyone is different in the side effects that they experience, it will stay in your system for a few weeks so don't expect an immediate change. Hope you feel better.

I've been on Zoloft, Sertraline on and off for over 10 years. I luckily don't have any side effects from it. I have stopped taking it many times. Immediately not gradually and I had no problems at all. Of course, the depression returned but there were no physical effects. You should talk to your Doctor, but stopping it although not recommended won't hurt you.

no, it's not safe, you should decrease the dosage slowly, your doc should tell you how.
Otherwise you'll have deep depression for awhile.
