Yes there is a point. Spooling time (or rpm) of the turbo will decrease and you'll get more power. With the addition of a large exhaust you will actually raise the boost levels too.
You make more power by getting more air and fuel in and out of your engine fast, hence why a turbo adds power (because you are forcing more air in and out at a greater pressure). Optimal air flow is necessary to make power, you want to get the exhaust gases out of the engine fast, an increase in exhaust diameter will allow you to flow exhaust gases much better. So yes, adding a larger diameter exhaust will increase the power by, depending on engine, anywhere from 15hp to 40hp. Look at the Evo's.. putting a 3 inch exhaust on a stock Evo will net you an extra 30-40hp. Its a lot different than adding a larger exhaust to a n/a motor.
You'll see much more than 5-10hp claimed by mercury. Exhaust flow is very important with a turbocharged vehicle.

All's a turbo does is reroute the main flow of exhaust through the fins on 1/2 of the turbine which is separate from the other half (intake part) the intake only forces air through the intake manifold. you do not need to upgrade your exhaust to add a turbo. Their are 3 main reasons to upgrading your exhaust 1 is to make it look better 2 is to make sound better and 3 is to allow the exhaust an easier flow keeping the engine cooler in which increasing hp. so you don't need to spend any money on your main exhaust for a turbo unless you want the added 5-10 hp gain from it.

boy, you really don't know about cars or turbo---- all the exhaust goes out the exhaust. what drives the turbo turbine is the pressure difference between the pressure going into it, and the pressure that is in the pipe that it discharges too. This difference will also effect on how fast the turbo spools up.

exhaust does not recirculate into the turbo. ever. if u have a turbo installed in ur car, it is wise to put in a catback exhaust system tho if thats what u would like to know. i reccommend learning alil more about the subject before u put time, effort, and money into it. to see if its what u really want to be doing.
