The liberals are making Iraq bigger than it is. More British children drown each year than American soldiers have died in 3 3/4 years of Iraq. More Iraqis die from car accidents than car bombs.
The conservatives can actually sit pretty. Thy are old enough to remember Nixon's downfall that just wiped out the Republican party. Then Jimmy Carter came along and just had problems every day. Serious problems. A nuclear explosion from a corrupt nuclear power plant, a real gas crunch, a hostage crises in Iran. Daily terrorism throughout the world. Not only were the Mexicans trying to get into the U.S., but the "boat people" frome East Asia were fleeing to the U.S. too. AIDS was around when Carter was around (and the people started to die on Regan's watch), Skylab and the DC-10 (along with general air safety) were major failures. The inflation rate was over 11%. His cabinet was chasing women and doing drugs. He had the "sweater speech" which urged Americans to conserve fuel by wearing a sweater at home (which was embarassing as the duct tape speech from Homeland Security). Then a B rated actor (that was also governor of California) showed up and brought in 12 years of conservative Republicanism.
The Democrats have nobody like Bill Clinton. They are flooded with Jimmy Carters.
The Republicans still have a couple of people that might be able to become president after the Democrats win in 2008 (and I think the Republicans will let this crop win to show how bad a crop the Democrats have). The Republicans will probably come out swinging in 2012 and have 12 more years of Republican rule.
