those who don't celebrate they interpret that there is something wrong to have a baby girl.. let us have pity on them. let those give up their interpretation. it is a really a matter of joy & happiness .Oh god help them to have a peace..so that they can have a joy of having female child!

What country are you from? If this is true, maybe in some cultures, the reason for celebrating the birth of a son is because this means the father's name will be carried on even after his death. Also it could be because a son being born means that there is another worker in the house who will help with the tasks that are considered man's work.

Who is 'you'? I celebrated when I found out I was having a girl, and even more when I delivered my beautiful baby.

it depends all the culture and the society.. you are in.. that were old days, now people do celebrate when you have a baby girl...

Don't take me wrong and the answer to this that in Hindu cultures births of girls are always not welcomed.
But I understand in other cultures and communities we all celebrate it with joy.

In the states girls are just as valuable as boys and are celebrated equally - it is a shame that some countries and cultures are so uneducated, backwards and ignorant that they feel girls are worthless. These cultures should look at themselves and question their own mental state and ignorance!!!!!!!!!

i guess gender never matters when u love ur child .. wether its a girl or a boy its ur owm baby so its time to celebrate .. now a days people do not differentiate betwn male n female .. so jst enjoy the birth of ur child .. celebrate it

i am happy about it. it is equaling celebrated in my house. people r changing their views sooner or later u will see a celebration on a gurls birth. lets hope for the best.

When I have a baby girl..... I will celebrate. Make sure you do too. Giving birth can result in your own death u'know :-)

which culture are you referring to. We celebrate babies, in the States, no matter the gender.
